Huawei Debuts Commercial LTE eNodeB
July 24, 2009
China-based Huawei Technologies recently debuted a commercial LTE (Long Term Evolution) eNodeB in Munich, Germany, according to reports by China's CNII and Japan's Nikkei. Reportedly the first LTE eNodeB which can already be used for large-scale commercial deployment, Huawei's new LTE product leverages 64QAM (Quadrature Amplitude Modulation) and MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) technologies with two sets of transmitters and receivers and is therefore able to fully utilize the ultra-wide bandwidth of LTE. Operating in commercial LTE networks, Huawei's LTE eNodeB is able to support a downlink rate of 150Mbps at maximum, thereby facilitating mobile data services including HD (High Definition) VOD (Video On Demand) and videoconferencing.
